“From small to big history: discussion about the book Sleeping Among Corpses” at Skope

On 29 October, Skope – Museum of Medicine and Health will host the session “From small to big history: discussion on the book Sleeping Amongst Corpses”, a joint initiative of the Casa Hermes Foundation and the Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Aveiro.

At the heart of the conversation is the testimony of Portuguese doctor Luís Moreira Gonçalves, who, in the midst of the pandemic, worked in the Amazon and preserved — between dreams and delirium — the memory of troubled days on the front line of the fight against COVID-19, when oxygen ran out in the ‘lungs of the world’.

In partnership with Brazilian artist Felipe Parucci, the author reconstructs this experience in a book of powerful images and intense narrative rhythm, dedicated to all health professionals who were on the front line.

29 October | 3.30 p.m.

Limited attendance and subject to registration in advance using the form.
