With 131 years of history, this building—representative of the architecture of the “torna-viagem” Brazilians—bears unique traces of a time and an identity that must be preserved.

The conservation and restoration of a marbled mural, located in a passageway between the dental and otolaryngology offices, has been completed by Dr. Elvira Barbosa.

The primary objective of the intervention was to address deficiencies in the polychromy and the support structure, ensuring the preservation of the aesthetic and material integrity of this decorative element.

Executed using the fresco technique, this painting features geometric decoration with friezes that simulate a stone cladding, contributing to the richness and authenticity of the space.

This type of initiative reinforces our commitment to safeguarding heritage and enhancing the historical elements that make up the museum.

Special thanks to Dr. Elvira Barbosa for her availability, guidance, and for all the insights shared throughout the entire process.
