The Obstetrics Teaching Charts from the Casa Hermes Foundation collection are currently undergoing restoration. The collection consists of 10 charts by Madrid sculptor Enrique Zofío Dávila (c. 1835–1915), currently on permanent display at Skope – Museum of Medicine and Health.
These works constitute a unique heritage, where science, medical teaching and artistic practice intersect, bearing witness to the pedagogical methodologies of obstetrics in a historical context.
Cleaning tests are currently being carried out on one of the paintings, an essential stage in the conservation and restoration process. The aim is to remove dust and dirt accumulated on the surface, allowing the visual interpretation of the work to be restored and ensuring its long-term preservation, always with respect for the original materials and techniques.
The intervention is being carried out by Archeofactu, coordinated and conducted by Conservator Maria João Petisca, following criteria of technical and scientific rigour.
