We welcomed students from the EB 2/3 School in Aradas on a special visit held on World Diabetes Day, an important date for raising awareness about prevention, healthy lifestyles and lifelong health care.
World Diabetes Day is an annual celebration on 14 November, created to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of its prevention and management. It was established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation in honour of the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, one of the co-discoverers of insulin.
This visit took place under the protocol between the Casa Hermes Foundation and the Municipality of Aveiro, which provides free visits to Skope for students from schools in the municipality.
This is an opportunity that brings young people closer to science and health literacy through engaging, participatory and discovery-filled educational experiences.
Our thanks to the Aveiro City Council for making this initiative possible, and to EB 2/3 de Aradas for their presence and enthusiasm.
Interested schools can schedule their visits through the Regional Educational Services (SER) of the Aveiro City Council: ser@cm-aveiro.pt
